Reduction in moisture content varies based on the different types of material as well as other factors such as the specific gravity of the dry solids, the percentage of the solids contained within the sludge as well atmospheric conditions.

The bags can be gravity fed or pumped at the recommended flowrates based on the design specifications supplied by Zebratube.

In comparison to mechanical dewatering equipment, employing dewatering bags only requires less than 20 kwh/ton and this only applies during the filling phase, once the bags are full no energy will be required since the bags will be draining under gravity.

For the small -scale dewatering bags, these come readily fitted with loops that can be used by forklifts to lift and dispose of possibly in a skip for landfilling if applicable. The bigger bags/tubes can be broken open and the dry material collected for landfilling or if within the respective environmental limits, the dry material can be used for agricultural purposes. There are various uses for the dried material, but all this depends on the nature of the material.

The manufacturing process of geotextile dewatering bags can take anything from 5-10 working days, this is dependent on how busy the factory schedule is.

Toxicity tests were performed on the geotextiles, and it was found that the bags can be burnt without releasing any harmful gases, but this can also be subjective to the nature of the sludge that was being dewatered.

ZebraTube prefers to conduct lab-scale test work at our premises to understand your sludge characteristics and then proceed with geotextile selection. If the test work cannot be performed for some reason, ZebraTube has an existing database of previously tested samples, we will utilise this as well as our knowledge to make a geotextile selection.
